Nia’s HISTORY: BODY•MIND FITNESS SINCE 1983
As a pioneer in body•mind fitness, “The Nia Technique” has been charting new territory in the relationship between fitness and wellness since 1983. Nia has motivated runners, Olympic athletes, dancers, fitness buffs, and workout novices to embrace this effective way to get and stay fit. Endorsed by thousands of students and health practitioners, Nia has changed the bodies of people of all ages and from all walks of life using pleasure - not pain.
What makes Nia unique is the movement: a blend of East and West that addresses the body, mind, emotions and spirit to create fitness and lifestyle change. Nia is taught in traditional fitness clubs, as well as in specialty markets such as drug, alcohol, and cardiac rehab clinics, prisons, college accredited PE classes, theatre and dance education, spas, wellness centers, and martial arts studios.
Nia provides whole body fitness, strength, and flexibility using safe, grounded barefoot movement. The technique has been proven to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, and obesity to name a few. Over 500 certified Nia instructors currently teach over 40,000 students in 13 countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, South Africa, Australia and the U.K.
